Description: Microbiologists study microorganisms and their effects on the environment, animals, plants, and other microorganisms. Their responsibilities include:
Research
Plan and conduct research projects to develop drugs, improve sterilization procedures, and more
Laboratory work
Perform experiments to diagnose and treat illnesses, isolate and maintain cultures, and identify microorganisms
Data analysis
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to water quality, infection prevention, and other issues
Technical writing
Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on research findings
Training
Provide technical support and training on laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control protocols
Quality assurance
Develop quality assurance and quality control policies and ensure compliance
Equipment
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment and instrumentation
Presentation
Attend conferences and present research findings
Supervision
Supervise biological technicians and evaluate the accuracy of their results
Microbiologists can work in a variety of fields, including medicine, environmental science, and food safety:
Medical microbiology
Support the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses caused by microorganisms
Environmental microbiology
Analyze water samples to identify contamination and assess the threat to public health

Requirements: Proven work experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or similar role
Ability to transcribe accurately and maintain a minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute
Experience with specialized transcription equipment and voice recognition software, including WebChartMD and PhraseExpander
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon, as well as editing practices
Keen attention to detail in order to not compromise patient care
Post-secondary training in medical transcription is preferred
