Description: Patient care: Nurses are responsible for the direct care of patients, including:
Assessing patients: Nurses assess patients conditions, identify medical issues, and gain their trust
Creating care plans: Nurses develop care plans for patients based on nursing diagnoses
Administering care: Nurses administer medications, physical examinations, and IV drips
Monitoring patients: Nurses monitor patients vital signs, such as temperature and blood pressure, and identify medical issues
Collecting health histories: Nurses collect patient health histories by asking patients about their medical history, prior diagnoses, and surgeries
Documenting: Nurses record and maintain accurate documentation of patients health and symptoms
Assisting with procedures: Nurses may assist with surgery and other medical procedures
Supervising: Nurses may supervise junior staff and other nursing staff
Providing emotional support: Nurses may provide emotional support to patients and their relatives

Requirements: Bachelor degree or master degree in nursing.
Pass the National Council Licensure Examination or NCLEX-RN.
Current state licensure as a registered nurse and BLS certification required.
American Heart Association BLS/CPR
ACLS certification
