Description
responsible for the day-to-day operations of a kitchen, including food preparation, inventory management, and staff training. They are also the main point of communication between the kitchen and restaurant management. Some of their responsibilities include:
Inventory management: Ensuring that the kitchen has the necessary ingredients and supplies, and ordering more when needed
Staff training: Hiring new staff and training them on kitchen procedures and company protocol
Menu development: Working with the head chef to develop and maintain the menu
Quality control: Ensuring that food is prepared consistently and meets the restaurants standards
Kitchen cleanliness: Setting and enforcing cleaning standards, and inspecting the kitchen for sanitation
Kitchen finances: Tracking expenses and inventory to identify areas of potential waste
Equipment maintenance: Ensuring that kitchen equipment is in good working order, and reporting issues
Food safety: Ensuring that the kitchen follows all food safety regulations
Kitchen managers should be motivated, hospitality-focused, and have a strong knowledge of health and safety regulations. They should also be able to work in a high-stress environment and manage a kitchen staff
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant Management or certification from culinary school is required.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations.
Ability to work well in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities.
Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
