Description: To provide an evidence based dietetic service to Service Users in the designated
area within a best practice/evidence based framework.
 Be responsible for nutritional assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
of treatment / intervention programmes for Service Users according to professional
standards; identify requirement for oral/enteral nutrition support and/or
therapeutic diet.
 Be able to make highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex
cases.
 Provide advice and participate in meetings with teams regarding feeding, eating,
drinking and swallowing difficulties.
 An understanding of the nutritional difficulties prevalent in intellectual disability,
autistic spectrum disorder and physical & sensory disabilities.
 To liaise with medical/ nursing, interdisciplinary teams and family/carers in
planning of nutritional care including Case Conferences where applicable.
 To keep up to date with advances in evidence based practice relevant to assigned
area of work and to participate in CPD including attendance at relevant educational
meetings, conferences and internal training, and training relevant to clinical
nutrition products.
 Day to day management of the designated caseload including planning, assessment
and intervention.
